The Builder April 7

A Fine Time!

Twenty Kiwanians and two guests attended our luncheon meeting at Stone Tree Golf anad Country Club. PLG Al Kelly brought James Culligan as a guest today while K Russ Pierson hosted Frank Burnett. There was no tardy tally today. Who says you can't teach old dogs new tricks?

True to his word, President Bob Miller kept the meeting moving briskly along to finish by 1:15...too swiftly for some, as he left out the Objects of Kiwanis.

PP John Prettie paid a toonie for the experience of seeing PP Peter Little in tights at a dress rehearsal of MacBeth. We understand he may be getting a callback for the remake of Men in Tights.

It wasn't Some Enchanted Evening for DPP Gail Norris however, as her trip to Toronto to see South Pacific came to an abrupt end. The show was cancelled. No Happy Talk there....

Happy Loonie Days!

PP Kevin Dandeno paid a toonie to express his delight that the Toronto Maple Leafs are out of the play-offs...leaving lots of time to cheer on our own OWEN SOUND ATTACK!

K Doug Cleverley paid a toonie to advertise the Home & Cottage Expo coming to the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre, a building with a title long enough to make a signmaker smile...

PP Jed Phillips wasn't singing the Blues about his trip with Jane to Toronto to Massey Hall for an evening of music. K Sean McMurray paid a loonie to express his delight that his son Nicholas is now employed. Looney may well describe the price he had to pay to fill up his vehicle.

Speaker's Corner!

Operations Manager, Brad Burnett of the Owen Sound Correctional Services presented us with a behind the scenes look at the Owen Sound jail. The final piece of the historic puzzle is about to be put into place as the jail is closed. Inmates will be sent to Penetanguishene once the closure takes place.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

K Jed Phillips will be appearing on Grey County Life on May 10th to discuss the benefits of membership in Kiwanis.

Thank you so much to those who responded to our call for help with Loonies for Kids Campaign. We would like each club member to volunteer on one of two sections. The first is to challenge community members to save their Loonies, to donate funds for our playground. The closing of the fundraiser will be at Harrison Park on September 24 so members are needed to organize the activities and run the events. The second area to join is the Fun Day section. Please let us know your preference.

Help Please!
