Annual Corn Roast!

About sixty Kiwanians, Honorary Kiwanians along with their families were in attendance at our yearly corn roast at our Whispering Pines Campground. President Gord set up our traditional fire pot to get our corn ready for eating. K Paul Kirk was a waiter extraordinaire...

A huge thank you goes out to our Kiwanis Kitchen Crew with yeoman's service, above and beyond, provided by K Bill Sornberger and K Michelle Kobryn with able assistance from sous chef K Bruce Jobe. The food they cooked was exceptional and far exceeded our expectations. Next year, K Bill and K Michelle will be the ones to sit down and enjoy themselves while other Ks take their turn at the grill and cleaning up! Many hands...

Decorated picnic tables were judged with due diligence by DS Julia Levine who rebuffed all attempts at coercion or bribery... despite what those who lost may say... First place went to PLG Linda Van Aalst's table with her WWF birds while K Bob and Ann Miller's blue on blue table was a close second. Honorable mention goes out to the Gignac orange delight ensemble. Winners were presented with cupcakes courtesy of DS Julia. That takes the cake...

The Tall Ships Weekend!

The weekend of August 17th was a tall order for our club. Whether it was the Kiwanis Kitchen, the Kiwanis Pub, the Camp Quality BBQ or the Whispering Pines Motorcycle Club Catering, all hands were on deck to raise over $10,000 for service to our community.

At the same time, our Eastern Canada and the Caribbean convention was held in Peterborough. K Julia managed to gather $1100 in donations for wristbands and note cards for MNT on behalf of the District. Past Governor Gary conducted three different workshops dealing with membership, growth and how to make presentations while DS Julia assisted with an MNT fundraising one. No rest for the weary...
