The Builder for August 4th

K Bert Loopstra got this week's meeting off with a splash!

The club held our meeting on a warm summer's evening in truly idyllic surroundings.

Some 32 Kiwanians and guests gathered on the shores of Georgian Bay to enjoy the fine food provided by our caterer, K Rebecca Mills (Delicious Dishes). Grilling the food to perfection was PLG Linda Van Aalst's husband, Kees.

To add special importance to the evening was the induction of our newest member Kiwanian Bruce Jobe. We were so happy that his wife Lisa was a part of our celebration.

The pool party event was organized by our gracious hosts, President Bob Miller and his wife Ann. We thank them for opening up their home to us...a trusting pair.

P Bob was very pleased to receive close to 40 replies to his invitation. That kind of response during the summer holidays was very much appreciated.

President Bob shared a letter from Bernice Ackermann thanking Kiwanis for the support

she received during K Hermann's long illness and his funeral. She especially thanked longtime friend K Al Kelly, K Hermann's sponsor in 1989.

New club member sponsor K Gord Harris introduced K Bruce Jobe of Grey Bruce Electric which included a reference to their mutual appreciation of motorcycles.

K Paul Strimas presented our Kiwanis member's certificate and P Bob gave K Bruce his Kiwanis pin.

PP Don Sweatman explained the Builder's apron while PLG Linda Van Aalst provided our member's information folder.

K Bruce has a copy of our current roster and club committees to choose from. We look forward to having an extra pair of hands to help with our projects. Welcome to the club, K Bruce!

One Happy Gang of Kiwanians!

"See you all on August 25th at the Whispering Pines Corn Roast!"
