The Builder for November 17th

There were 17 Kiwanians and three guests in attendance at our dinner meeting held at the Inn on the Bay. Honorary Kiwanian Ann Kelly and PP Andy Drury's guest, Karen Conley along with Scott Lovell joined us for dinner. K Paul Matthies and Kiwanian Fred Druyf were our greeters at the door. President Susan Davey asked K Doug Cleverley to read the Objects of Kiwanis. K Paul Matthies was the lucky number draw winner for today.

Speaker's Corner!

PP Gord Harris introduced our guest, Chapman House Executive Director Scott Lovell. Scott was able to update the club on the progress of construction at the site. The hope is that Chapman House will open in April. Currently there are 23 employees with the hopes of hiring RPNs being trained at Georgian College. Scott expressed his sincere gratitude for our generous donation. 3.1 million dollars have been raised thus far.

K Paul Matthies thanked Scott for his update.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

PP Kevin Dandeno sent in a picture for The Builder of our pile of trees guarded by President Susan and Christmas Tree Chair Jim McManaman.  We have fraser fir, balsam and pine trees for sale. We have hundreds of trees to set up. There are many spots for members to lend a hand. Please sign up.

Instructions are in the trailer.

Thank you to all Kiwanians and Kiwanis partners for pitching in to make our Kiwanis Santa Claus parade another success. Special Kiwanis Kudos to Marylou Strimas, Elizabeth Harris and Karen Conley for their dedication to the cause. Georgian College students were out in force as well to marshall.
