Our Division 8 Governor's Visit

Our Huronia Division welcomed E. C. & C. Governor Bobby Moo Young and his wife Josie on a brief tour of our area. Governor Bobby visited the Kiwanis Club of Owen Sound for their Thursday luncheon meeting and had tours of local Kiwanis projects including the SK8 park and the Hospice Kiwanis children's activitiy room. He was thrilled to see hundreds of children and parents at the K soccer fields for the cross country run.

PG Chuck McIlravey and K Dorothy of the Barried Club were so gracious to host and travel with their good friends Governor Bobby and Josie. Leaving Owen Sound, Huntsville-Muskoka was their next stop to congratulate and welcome our newest club into our Kiwanis family.

To conclude his visit, Governor Bobby was the keynote speaker at the dinner in Barrie which followed our Regional Caucus Meeting chaired by LG Stephanie Worthington.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation to Governor Bobby by PG Chuck McIlravey of $20 000 from Division 8 clubs for hurricane relief. On page one of our newsletter is the link to the Kiwanis Foundation which will match a dollar for every two you donate. PIP Dr. John Button is chairing this initiative.

Governor Bobby's message at our RCM and at the Governor's banquet was focussing on challenging each club to look for opportunities to expand the membership of our clubs. He believes that our Service Leadership, Builder's Clubs, Key Clubs etc. are vital for youth to develop leadership qualities. He looks forward to Division 8 having positive growth under LG Stephanie's leadership.
