Hot Summer Dates!

The Builder for July 16th

There were 18 Kiwanians present along with our guest, Past President of the Golden K Jack Tweddle, as President Paul Strimas brought our meeting to order. K Guy Chouinard led us in The Builder's Song with K Don King reading our Objects of Kiwanis. The winner of our lucky number draw was K Bruce Jobe. K Stew Andrew was in charge of our confession session...

Speakers' Corner

Kiwanian Doug Cleverley, Event Facilitator for the City of Owen Sound, took time out of his hectic summer schedule to update us on upcoming events in the City of Owen Sound.

The City decided about 6 years ago to devote most of their energies to summer events. There have been 14 seasons of free concerts down at the harbour 7 p.m. If it is raining, the concert moves to the Legion.

Another very popular family experience is the showing of movies at Harrison Park.

For a full listing of upcoming events happening, in and around the city, check out the online event calendar. There is something to do for everyone.

President Paul thanked K Doug for sharing his expertise with us. P Paul presented him with a small token of our appreciation.

Road trip survivors...

PP Don Sweatman and PE Susan Davey shared their enthusiasm and knowledge gained from their 100th International Convention experience in Indianapolis. From workshops, to voting in the House of Delegates to meeting members from around the world, they had an enlightening Kiwanis experience.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

Regional Trustee Elect, Gail Norris was presented with her Kiwanis International Centennial Medal pin at today's meeting. She received her plaque on May 9th at our 90th Anniversary Dinner. The club wishes to thank her commitment to Kiwanis and service beyond our club. She will be joining the RT training in Toronto this weekend. PG Gary Levine, EC&C Growth Chair, will be updating the trustees at that time.

PE Susan Davey announced that we have two students, Alexandra and Abby, planning to attend the Key Leader Weekend on October 23 and 24th. They are returning to the camp as helpers this year. We are looking forward to the formation of a Key Club this fall at St. Mary's High School as well.
