The Builder for March 21st
There were 28 Kiwanians present at our business luncheon meeting held at the Stonetree Golf and Fitness Club. Our next meeting will be held on April 4th which will deal with the election of a new officer to our Board.
K Paul Strimas spoke on behalf of K Bill Sornberger in reference to the purchase of a new fully equipped food trailer. K Bill was unable to be present at our luncheon meeting. As our Chief of Police, K Bill was absent to attend the funeral of a fallen officer.
K Paul presented the Board’s recommendation to purchase a new, fully equipped food concession trailer. Each member was given a copy of the Whispering Pines’ minutes that made the recommendation to the Board and details of the trailer, with supporting pictures.
K Doug Cleverley spoke on behalf of the Fundraising Committee and President Gord added additional comments in support of the purchase. K Paul and President Gord answered the many questions that arose.
The motion to purchase was made by PP Linda Van Aalst and seconded by K Doug Cleverley: THAT the Kiwanis Club of Owen Sound accepts the recommendation of the Owen Sound Kiwanis Board to buy a food concession trailer, to be purchased from the Whispering Pines’ account. The food trailer is intended to be used at Whispering Pines Campground and other special events, but only with trained volunteers (no paid wages). The purchase price shall be up to a maximum of $80,000.00 which includes any signage needed to identify the trailer as a Kiwanis mobile kitchen.
The Motion carried with 22 in favour with 6 opposed.
A FINE TIME!
PLG Linda Van Aalst paid a happy toonie to announce the Inside Ride event being held at OSCVI on March 28th which will be dedicated this year to the memory of Brendan Rourke. Money raised will go toward Pediatric Cancer.
Marion was our Mystery Greeter and only PLG Linda neglected to give her usual K hug.
PP Jed Phillips paid a loonie for his great applause denoting his tardy appearance. PP Jed also paid $5 to announce the next play he is in called “The Donnelleys” which runs on April 11 to 13 and 17 to 20 at the Roxy...scary neighbours...
K Susan Davey paid $5 for her confession to a trip to St. George, Utah and to Las Vegas. What happens in Vegas...PP Kevin chipped in $5 for his participation on the Kiwanis Cruise...or on the high seas, stays on the high seas.
PP John Prettie paid $12 for a trip to Cuba and a trip to Guelph to see the drama festival presentation of Kiss Moon, Kiss Sun. Congrats to the Owen Sound Little Theatre for their several awards!
Treasurer Paul K paid $2 for being Home Alone as Susan was south...I saw that movie...but hear that Paul had the place spic and span for Susie's return.
Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
