A Fine Time!
There were 27 Kiwanians, 3 Kiwanians being inducted, two guests and Lieutenant Governor John Parker present for lunch at Stone Tree this week. K Gord Harris brought Bruce Jobe as his guest while K Russ Pierson hosted Frank Burnett.
This week's Mystery Greeter was K Stew Andrew. Our own intrepid reporter noted that many people had forgotten to shake his hand. He is currently icing it as he got writer's cramp copying down all the names of the offenders....
IPG Gary Levine and K Joanne Horton were the Tardy Twosome. However IPG Gary was representing us at the Terrific Kids Assembly at Alexandra School and was not playing hookie....K Gord pointed out IPG Gary's attendance slip infraction so he may yet be sent to the Principal's office where PP Jed Phillips will keep him company.
In some form of City Counsellor collusion, DPP Gail Norris ended up being fined for K Jim McManaman's failure to wear white to the Attack Game. Luckily the Attack appears to have recovered from their shock with a 6-0 win on Saturday night.
PP Don Sweatman paid the price for purchasing a new vehicle for his wife Karen... hoping to Dodge a fine, I'm sure.
Happy Loonie Days!
DPP Gail was thrilled with her 20 day trip to five counties in South America. While on board ship. she attended a Service Club meeting with many different service clubs present. DPP Gail took the opportunity to explain to her shipmates why Kiwanis is a wonderful organization..
PP Jed paid a toonie because his daughter Paige has been accepted into a postgraduate position at The University of Western Ontario. Congratulations Paige on yet another starring role!
Welcome To The Club!
K Paul Strimas, PP Jed, PP Peter Little, President Bob Miller and LG John Parker each had a role to play in the induction of our newest members.
We welcomed K Kerry Lee, brought into the club by PP Andy Drury, K Dennis Hertz sponsored by K Ted Horton and K Blake Bonham was supported by K Phil Gignac. Welcome All!
The Kiwanis Club of Owen Sound proudly handed out the traditional aprons, pins, certificates and kits to our newest inductees.
DPP Gail was delighted to be able to present Honourary Kiwanian Ann Kelly with her Kiwanis pin and certificate. Her continued hard work on our behalf is always appreciated.
K Stu Luckhardt presented Honourary Kiwanian Mae Kuhl with her pin and certificate. He shared his fond memories of our gentle giant, PP Arnold Kuhl.
K Paul Kirk outlined the Kiwanis Kids Outreach Program aka KKO. He gave examples of the kind of work our committee is such as providing dental care to needy children, supporting the local Police with bicycle helmets as well as supporting the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority with their Wild Water Program. K Paul said they are doing their best to get media recognition of the work we are doing in our community through the Outreach Program. K Paul said more Kiwanians were welcome to join his committee. If you know a family in need or a worthwhile project that needs our support, be sure to contact K Paul at firstname.lastname@example.org
