There were twenty-three of our Owen Sound Kiwanians and many K guests at our lively first meeting of the Kiwanis year chaired by President Michelle Kobryn. Colleen Trask Seaman (Executive Director of OSHaRE), Dennis Kefalas (Owen Sound's Director of  Public Works and Engineering ), District Trustee Bob Bogardis, PLG Bob MacDonald, Greg Rodgers (Whispering Pines) and Division 8 Lieutenant Governor Stephanie Worthington were our guests.

All were warmly greeted at the door by Kiwanians Penny Garvin and Mike Rutherford, supervised by Board Director Paul Matthies.

K Steve Sired began our Builder's Song while everyone read The Objects of Kiwanis. PP Jack Tweddle was the winner of our lucky number draw.

P Michelle introduced the Board members present (almost) and some committee chairs as well.

Speakers Corner!

LGE Susan Davey introduced our Divisional LG Stephanie from Orillia. She shared that LG Stephanie is a dedicated volunteer with her club and community, a recent recipient of the Mel Osborne Fellowship and busy in her work and family life as well. LG Stephanie spoke about her role representing Governor Mel Clarke in her second year as our LG. Her task is to support the clubs in our Huronia Division and she encourages us to reach out to her should we have any problems or questions.

DT Bob Bogardis kept us smiling.

District Trustee Bob Bogardis congratulated us on our newsletters and explained the E.C. and C. District award process. He kept us laughing with his description of his job ahead. He recognized the good work done by Past District Trustee Gail Norris who has just completed her term. He is also organizing Past Lieutenant Governors Committees in each Division which is a challenging task to be sure.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

There are still a few of our Kiwanis golf shirts left to purchase for $30.00. Be sure to come out on October 25th as we induct our newest member Scott Lovell. That same week, October 27th, we have a Saturday night social at Treasurer Fred and Judy Druyf''s home for a games night.

P Michelle says: Don't volunteer your time to do club work til it hurts...volunteer until it feels good!"

Wasn't That a Party!

A birthday celebration was held for Past President Elwood Moore at his home for his 97th birthday! Many friends, family and his Kiwanian family friends were in attendance to wish him well. MPP Bill Walker and Mayor Ian Boddy took time out on a Thanksgiving weekend to make presentations to him.

On November 8th we will present PP Elwood with a Legion of Honour marking 60 years as a Kiwanian.
