Special Induction Edition!

Our President's night induction took place on October 13th at Stone Tree Golf and Fitness Club with fifty party goers in attendance. Our special guests for the evening included our current Governor of Eastern Canada and the Caribbean, Peter Tudisco and his wife Joanne, Mayor Deborah Haswell and her partner Dianne Mattice, PLG John Parker and his wife Ann along with our very own LG Gail Norris. Our musical guests were talented Switchback with K Phil Gignac, PP John McLauchlan and PP Jed Phillips lighting up the night and the feet of fellow Kiwanians!

Former Governor Gary Levine, our able Master of Ceremonies, invited PP Jed Phillips to lead us in the Objects of Kiwanis. The introduction of the many guests at each table was our appetizer. Following dinner, Mayor Haswell brought us greetings from the City of Owen Sound and thanked us for working so hard on behalf of our community. LG Gail Norris introduced our Governor Peter Tudisco, his business accomplishments and his devotion to Kiwanis, most especially to the Key Leader Program.

The Governor and President Speak!

Governor Peter's keynote message was to put the emphasis on "changing" the world by turning leadership into action. His red marble story reminded us that your legacy is in the kind deeds you do for others.

President Linda thanked our Governor with a donation to our KI global project, Eliminate.

President Linda outlined the many firsts of the past year from the Eliminate Cocktail Party, to establishing the Canadian Kiwanis Motorcycle Chapter, her backwards April Fool's Luncheon, our WP Community Garage Sale to the Scotch Tasting Event in June. Through it all, there were lots of laughs along the way.

PP John presented our gift of thanks to outgoing P Linda.

And the Award Goes To...

The club was honoured to present to K Ted Horton, the Walter Zeller award, Kiwanis International's recognition of our Global Eliminate Project. K Ted has been instrumental in raising much needed funds for our club in innovative ways as in his Scotch Tasting event. That was a $13000 shot in our club's fiscal arm. His surprise announcement about help for our sixteen hand dryers at WP was his latest endeavour. K Ted also received a Legion of Honour award for his 40 years of service. Congratulations K Ted on your well deserved recognition!

In With the New!

Past Lieutenant Governor John Parker presented this year's LG, Gail Norris with the Home Club banner. The banner will be displayed at our club meetings with pride and we congratulate LG Gail on her willingness to take on this position.

LG Gail then went on to graciously induct our new Board for the coming year, with assistance in pinning our members from Governor Peter.

Our new President, Gord Harris was enthusiastic in his outlook address to the club about the year ahead. He is looking for members to become actively engaged, having fun participating in the greatest service club going. He will be inviting committee chairs to share the good work being done at our luncheon meetings. On the note of luncheon meetings the Board has suggested that in November, luncheon meetings will be on the first and third Thursdays only.

This coming week we will hear from Ted Creen about his trip to Malawi. P Gord will be looking for you!

The club thanks P Gord for stepping into the role as our new President. He is dedicated to making a difference with Elizabeth by his side.
