A Special Induction Issue of the Builder

Saturday, October 15th

More then 50 Kiwanians and guests were blown in to Stonetree for a night of laughter and celebration. They came to thank those who have served and those who are stepping forward to serve.

Thank you to Kiwanian Gord Harris and Kiwanian Stew Andrew for so ably looking after our front desk. They took on the additional task of selling the coupon books on behalf of the Symphony. Thus far we have raised over $600 on this venture. Don`t miss out on buying these $20.00 books for your family.

Following our opening song, DP Eric Crose led us in the reading of the objects of Kiwanis. We enjoyed our meal provided by the staff at Stonetree including the wonderful table arrangements provided by Kiwanian Donna Kaufmann and Flower Expressions. Thank you K Donna for the beautiful autumn colours.

We were honoured to have Honorary Mae Kuhl and Bernice Ackermann in attendance. As well, we were so pleased to see Mayor Deborah Haswell along with her partner Diane Mattice.

Mayor Haswell noted the important bond Kiwanis has with the City and the historic part we play in our community. She congratulated us on our many contributions to the city. Those contributions include our Kiwanis Soccer Complex, the Santa Claus Parade, the Music Festival and most recently the playground at Harrison Park. What a boring place it would be without the Kiwanis Club of Owen Sound!

Be sure to congratulate our newest Kiwanian, Marion Koepke. PG Gary Levine has sponsored our newest member and he does so with the highest of recommendations. He had the priviledge of working with Kiwanian Marion when she served our City as Deputy Clerk and most recently at Elections Canada.

Lots of Kiwanians to Induct!

Lieutenant Governor John Parker came over from Orillia to induct our new Board members, our new President Linda Van Aalst and to congratulate President Bob Miller

on a job well done.

Our returning and new Board members* are: K Stew Andrew, PLG Al Kelly, K Russ Pierson, K Doug Cleverly*, K Michelle Kobryn, K Bill Sornberger*,

K Gord Harris, K Sean McMurray*, K Paul Strimas*, Treasurer Paul Kirk*, Secretary Julia Levine and PP Bob Miller

Thank you to PP Don Sweatman for his ever lucid explanation of the exacting science of attendance. He does remind you that you can not use good works....no matter how good....to be used as a Kiwanis makeup.

See you this week at Stonetree at 12:10 where Rick Hill will be speaking to us about Community Living.
