The Builder for October 3rd
There were 18 Kiwanians present to kick off the Kiwanis New Year at Stonetree Golf and Fitness Club. Kiwanians were greeted at the door by K Paul Matthies and K Susan Davies. President Gord Harris has begun his second year ringing the luncheon gong. Our fifty-fifty draw winner was PP Peter Little and K Russ Pierson was our mystery greeter...which was a mystery to many...
Introducing our speaker was PLG Linda Van Aalst and our thank yous were given by PP Andrew Drury. PP John is the Community Partnership Coordinator for Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce.
PP John McLachlan informed the club about Habitat for Humanity. It is a community-based, non-profit, organization working for a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live.
Their mission is to mobilize volunteers and community partners in building affordable housing and promoting homeownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty. The organization was founded in 1987 and is part of a worldwide network that spans 100 countries.
Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
The deadline for submitting letters in support of our global MNT project to be presented to Minister Christian Paradis has been extended. You may send your letters to PG Chuck McIlravey who will include them in his submission. Thank you to those who have already submitted your letters of support.
Past Governor Gary Levine, on behalf of PG Peter Tudisco, presented K Susan Davey with a token of his gratitude for her faithful service as our Builder's Club Chair for Eastern Canada and the Caribbean District. K Susan manned many, many information desks through the years spreading the word about our SLP programs.

Proud PP Prettie proclaimed the birth of a precious new granddaughter, Emmerson Elizabeth born on September 10th weighing in at a healthy 8 lbs. 14 oz.. PP John has no time to sit idly by as he is expecting another grandchild in the next two weeks. That's a lot of diapers to change PP John...
A hearty congratulations to K Joanne Horton on her announcement that she is expecting a child. PG Gary had to levy a fine to P Gord for his attempt to fine K Joanne on that wonderful news. We are thrilled that a new Kiwanian will soon be in our midst.
K Flavian Quiquero felt the warm glow of a welcome back to our luncheon meeting with a fine for having too much fun while on vacation. PP Elwood Moore felt that President Gord was not calling members by their rightful titles and so P Gord was rightfully fined.
