The Builder for September 5th, 2013

There were twelve Kiwanians along with our guest speaker, Ann Fahrun at our luncheon held at Stonetree Golf and Fitness Club. Our front of house greeters were Secretary Stew Andrew and Builder's Club advisor K Susan Davey. Our 50/50 Winner was President Gord Harris who donated his winnings to our Eliminate program.

On the topic of Eliminate, we will be meeting with Federal Minister of International Development Christian Paradis in October on our quest for financial support for our MNT project.

We are asking Kiwanians from across Canada to please send in your letter extolling our project to PG Chuck McIlravey by September 30th. I have already sent in my letter of support for the project (Editor DS Julia). We are hoping to receive hundreds of letters to bolster our efforts. Please take a moment to send one yourself. You are free to copy mine, use this MNT letter sample or devise your own. During the IDD campaign the Government of Canada donated several million to our cause. Your help is needed to support the children of the world!

Speaker's Corner!

President Gord introduced our speaker, Ann Fahrun, whose topic was the website Live Grey Bruce.

It is a website that provides potential employment information about Grey and Bruce Counties. A person may register as an employer or skilled professional to connect together.

PLG Linda Van Aalst thanked the speaker.

A Fine Time!

PP Elwood Moore was rightfully proud to put in a happy toonie about his 16 year old grandson who won the foot race in Montreal last week.

PP Kevin Dandeno confessed to a trip by the Bear Cats to play in Cornerbrook Newfoundland. Rocking on the rock...

K Doug Cleverley travelled to Dundas for a camping trip and enjoyed being a tourist instead of a tourist planner for a change.

PP John Prettie went to Barrie to take his granddaughter to the dentist for her first visit. Say ah.....

PP Andy Drury passed judgement on President Gord for attempting to fine a guest speaker, texting while the speaker was talking and omitting member designations. Guilty on all three charges!

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

Please let Secretary Stew know if for some reason you are not planning to renew your membership. K Dennis Hertz has moved to Guelph and so he had to relinquish his membership. We thank him for notifying us.

Our year end is fast approaching. We must up date our roster by September 30th. We are then billed in October for each member who is still on our roster for the 2013-2014 year.
