The Builder for April 25th, 2019

President Michelle Kobryn chaired our luncheon meeting at the Best Western Inn on the Bay. Kiwanian Mike Rutherford and K Penny Garvin greeted the nineteen Kiwanians and three guests in attendance. Our guests included members from the Kiwanis Music Festival Board, namely Mark Hendry (Chair), Bert Wakeford and Hugh Dunbar.

Past President Gord Harris won our lucky number draw.

P Michelle welcomed our three guests and spoke about the Festival of Stars

Concert.  It was another successful Kiwanis Festival year of talented performers!

Thank you to all Kiwanians who volunteered this year. A special shout out to K Colleen Seaman Trask who ended up working multiple venues and to PP Gord Harris and DP Bob Miller who stepped up at last minute in vivace time!

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

Apron, Kitchen, Clothes, Home, Cooking

We are still missing kitchen aprons, if anyone still has one, please bring it in. No strings attached.

We have 2 jugs of Maple Syrup left from our event this spring.  It is a sweet deal at $75 a piece.

Georgian Bay Children's Choir is cooking up a great spring concert on May 4th at 2:30 p.m. at St. Andrew's Church. P Michelle has some free tickets. Please contact her if you would like one.

It may seem like an impossibility to be thinking about golfing with this cool, wet spring but sunshine is on its way, as is our upcoming golf tournament! Mark you calendars for Friday, June 21st at the Stonetree Golf Club.

Gather your foursome and register soon. We would gladly advertise your business as one of our hole sponsors. Might you have a prize to donate?

Golf Chair K Warren Elder is looking forward to hearing from you.

DP Bob Miller spoke about an upcoming concert at the Harmony Center with guest speaker Donald Quan, a multiple award winning composer who suffered a stoke on stage in 2009.  The Healing the Mind & Soul through Music - A Musician's Journey Concert is being held on May 11th at 2 p.m. Admission is free with donations gladly received for this worthy cause.

Whispering Pines Chair K Steve Sired spoke about our park.  The water was being turned on this past week.  There will be a work party June 8 to cut and stack firewood for the coming season.  Help would be appreciated.

A Recap!

President Michelle highlighted some of our accomplishments over the 2nd quarter of this Kiwanis year. We welcomed three new members and hosted a new member orientation meeting to educate them about our club. Our OSHaRE project continues to serve 80 plus meals to those in need. DP Bob and Treasurer Fred Druyf have been among our faithful volunteers. Thank you to all our members who roll up their sleeves and pitch in.

The Family Day at Cobble was popular as was flipping 1200 pancakes at the Maple Syrup Festival. Our Needs Assessment committee will present their recommendations to the Board.

A Fine Time!

PP Gord donated $15 because motorcycle season is here, always the optimist... Michelle threw in a happy toonie for her Easter in Windsor with her grandchildren.

Dennis was fined $5 for locking himself and his fellow committee members out of the Community Living Building.  Luckily K Jim McManaman was the key to their success...

PP Jack Tweddle, K Steve and DP Bob signed a new member apron during the meeting so the writing was on the wall for a fine...The Magic Kingdom has K Colleen under its spell so she was fined for going to Disney World for the 2nd time this year.

Bert Wakeford threw in $10 arguing that Revenue Canada always taxes foreigners, noting that he was a foreigner at our meeting! That could be changed...
