The Builder for April 7th

President Elect Susan Davey and Kiwanis Paul Matthies were busy greeting 25 members and 4 guests at our luncheon at the Best Western Inn on the Bay. Numbers exceeded expectations, requiring another table to be set up. President Bill Sornberger asked Past President John Prettie to lead us in our songs and Past Governor Gary to recite the Object of Kiwanis. PG Gary was rewarded for his efforts by winning the lucky number draw.

Speaker's Corner!

President Bill introduced Phil Dodd, Executive Director at Keystone Child Youth and Family Services, an organization he has worked with for 26 years.

Phil provided us with an overview of the valuable work being done by 100 employees to assist children from birth to 18 years of age in the area of mental health. One in five youth will encounter some kind of mental health issue. Keystone operates a residential program as well to deal with at risk teenagers from 13-18. Funding issues are a struggle to keep the facility open year round. We thank them for helping the children of our area.

PP Don Sweatman introduced Travis Dodd to our members. A graduate of WHSS and Guelph University. His PoliSci degree is put to the test as an Owen Sound City Councilor by night and at Nicol Insurance by day.

PP Gord Harris introduced Fred as someone who moved with his wife Judy to our area to be close to family. Retired accountant by profession, restorer of classic cars, sailor and motorcyclist in his retirement. All salmon are on alert...

K Stew Andrew requested that PG Gary present the Builder aprons while P Bill welcomed them into our great service club with their Kiwanis member pin.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

FunFood Committee Chair Michelle Kobryn invite all interested Kiwanians to attend their meeting on April 12th at 5:15 at the Community Living Building. She wishes to thank the 18 Kiwanians and 5 family friends for helping at Grey Roots and at the Y last weekend. It proved to be a busy, fun and profitable time.
