The Builder for August 6th

There were 15 members and two guests present at luncheon meeting held at Stonetree Golf Club. PP Gord Harris and K Don King were our door greeters. K Doug Cleverley read the Objects of Kiwanis and K Russ Pierson was our choir director. K Don King was our fines collector and keeper of the lucky draw money.

DS Julia Levine (MNT Regional Rep) presented President Paul with the club's silver, gold and model club patches for fulfilling the club's pledge of $45 000.

Speakers' Corner!

Brock Boonstra is a Billy Bishop Ghost Walk leader. He regaled us with his tales of other worldly experiences he and others have experienced at Bishop House. The dining room has provided several strange encounters. Every Sunday night at 9 p.m. the tour meets at Bishop House. You may take part in the hour and a half ghostly walk through the downtown for just $5.00.

Our guests today from the Billy Bishop Museum were Patty Sargent-Gibson (Special Events and Fundraising Coordinator) and Brock Boonstra, a summer student who attends the University of Guelph, English latte program...

Patty presented information on the upcoming Fashion Show of lingerie at the Billy Bishop Airport on September 19th at 7 p.m. Tickets for this licensed event are $30. Kiwanians with a wealth of trivia are encouraged to form a team on October 23 at the Legion for Trivia night. A table is $120 with up to 8 participants.

Don't miss their movie nights every Wednesday from 5 - 9 p.m. It is by donation only so come and enjoy movies from the past.

K Doug Cleverley thanked our speakers, presenting certificates and Kiwanis bookmarks with Billy's picture inserted inside. The museum awaits your next visit.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

A huge thank you goes out to all of the volunteers who worked at the HOG Rally. With leadership from K Michelle Kobryn, K Paul Kirk and PLG Linda Van Aalst, everything ran smoothly with a bonus of making a very good profit.

We were relieved to hear that PP Don Sweatman's frightening encounter with the vicious storm that swept through last weekend only caused his boat some damage. The results could have been much worse for him and his family on board.

Congratulations goes out to DP Bob Miller's daughter Julie for winning gold in her age category at the triathlon in Whistler. She has qualified to enter the marathon in Hawaii.

Congratulations as well on another year of wedded bliss..
