The Builder for December 3rd

The luncheon meeting held at Stonetree Golf and Fitness Club was attended by 14 Kiwanians, along with K Jack Tweddle's wife, Pat and DP Bob Miller's wife, Ann. PP Paul Strimas wielded the gavel in President Bill Sornberger's absence.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

PP Don Sweatman was the lucky draw winner this week. Speaking of good news, K Doug Cleverley updated us on the steady recovery of K Sean McMurray's daughter Grace. We are pleased that she is feeling well enough to be a Christmas tree volunteer. All the best, Grace!

PP Paul Strimas was pleased to inform us that the Board passed a motion to donate $75 to the Bruce Trail in honour of the passing of K Sean's mother, Elaine, $75 to the Trillium Fund in honour of a Jim Lee, long-standing, faithful contractor for Whispering Pines and $75 for a fruit basket to be sent to Whispering Pines Manager Greg Rodgers and his family as they grieve the loss of Greg’s mother.

Regional Trustee Gail Norris spoke to those present about what her job as Trustee entails and that she has attended DCMs to connect with club reps. PE Susan spoke about mustache day in Collingwood. PP Peter confessed to a trip to Arizona with PP Paul Strimas was back from a jaunt to Toronto.

PP Paul Strimas advised us that Christmas tree sales are doing well and encouraged everyone to help where they are able.  You will be releafed to know that the fee for tree delivery is once again part of the sale price. That is treemendous!

PP Paul Strimas announced that the next K Meeting will be an evening social at President Bill’s home on December 17th at 6 p.m.  More poems will be read at that time and you are reminded to please bring a toy or food or be prepared to donate $10 in lieu thereof. Bring a guest and let's have a jolly good time!

Rhyme Thyme!

It was definitely a poet's paradise...lost...at our December meeting. A dozen Kiwanians shared their talents and faced the judgements of Past Presidents in assessing their poetic payment of $5.00. dollars. There was an exception to this amount, due to K Doug Cleverly poem to PP Gord Harris. As this poem contained a great deal of promotion for Gord’s business, PP Paul Strimas tacked on an additional $2.00 for the blatant advertising. For shame to think this time of year would be commercialized...

PP Elwood Moore advised us that he was not versed on the verse required so he donated $10 to the collection box. The true Christmas spirit prevailed!
