The 75th Edition of The Builder!

There were 32 Kiwanians present at today’s luncheon meeting along with special guest Honorary Kiwanian Ann Kelly a.k.a. Head Nurse and Chef in charge of PLG Al Kelly's speedy recovery. President Gord brought the noisy crowd to order with a swing of his gavel.

The objects of Kiwanis were eloquently read by DP Eric Crose buoyed we are sure by the recent purchase of an experienced dark purple, lightning fast motorcycle. Mystery Greeter PP Kevin reported that there were some who neglected to shake his hand and they were duly fined. DP Bob Miller also faced a lighter pocket with the disclosure of his new abode, currently being confused with a box warehouse...

The fifty-fifty draw winner was PP Andy Drury who was kept busy collecting fines and the Winning Number Draw money. The lucky number of 60 was held by K Steve Sired who kept the Kiwanis hat but re-gifted the Kiwanis sweatshirt for another fundraising opportunity...the gift that just keeps on giving.

K Stu Luckhardt congratulated the club on the terrific article that appeared recently in the Sun Times, researched and written by PLG Al Kelly and Honorary Ann. The complete article is featured on the front page of our website.

Down to Business!

Today was our Annual General Meeting, along with our election of officers to replace those who will be stepping down from the Board on October 1st.

Treasurer Paul explained that this fall will be our final

$30 000 payment to the City for our Harrison Park Playground.  On June 6th, we will be meeting again to decide whether we will commit $100 000 over the next five years on another joint city venture, a skateboard/scooter/bike park. Whispering Pines remains our number one fundraising venture and it continues to be highly successful for us!

Treasurer Paul Kirk presented us with our Club and Whispering Pines budgetary information for the past year.

We thank all those who were willing to let their name stand for service to our club.

President Gord Harris and DS Julia Levine were candidates for President for 2013-2014. President Gord was elected to serve another term. Kiwanis Paul Strimas ran unopposed for President Elect. DP Eric Crose, PP Kevin Dandeno, K  Susan Davey, PP Andrew Drury and K Marion Koepke let their names stand for the Board. K Susan, PP Andrew and K Marion will be serving a three year term on the Board.

Yard Sale Madness!

Please drop off your treasurers for our May 25th yard sale at MicroAge. If you need help in getting donations from your home, please contact Whispering Pines for valet roadside pickup on May 21 or 23. We had a bumper crop of goodies last year which we turned into cash. No time like the present to get rid of that extra fondue set...

Our Coffin Ridge Social is on May 30th from 5 till 7. Vintner plates must be pre-ordered.

The cost is $3/tour and $10 for a vintnor plate.

PG Gary will be sending out a doodle to help us keep track of who is coming.
