The Builder for May 9th, 2019

President Michelle Kobryn chaired our AGM luncheon meeting at the Best Western Inn on the Bay. Kiwanian Paul Matthies and K Penny Garvin greeted the twenty-four Kiwanians in attendance. All members recited the Objects of Kiwanis.  K Alice Wannen won our lucky number draw. Treasurer Fred Druyf updated the club on our current financial status regarding our investments and accounts.

PLG Linda Van Aalst chaired the election of officers portion of our meeting. PP Gord Harris made the motion to nominate P Michelle to a second term which was seconded by Treasurer Fred Druyf. P Michelle was endorsed to the position. K Scott Lovell moved and K Russ Pierson seconded K Fred to serve as

treasurer once again. For the position of Vice President, K Paul Matthies nominated and Steve Sired seconded K Jim McManaman to that chair. K Tim Brown volunteered for a three year Board position nominated by K Paul Strimas and seconded by K Flo Sired. To a two year term on the board, LGE Susan Davey nominated K Penny Garvin, seconded by K Stew Andrew. Secretary Tim Sobie was appointed for another term by President Michelle.

Thank you to all those who volunteered to take on a leadership role! Training for board positions takes place in June in Collingwood. Additional online training at https://www.kiwanis.org/clubs/member-resources/training is available.

Needs Assessment Review

K Dennis Kefalas as a member of the committee, comprised of PLG Linda van Aalst, PP Bill Sornberger and P Michelle, ably walked us through the number of groups that made presentations and the projects suggested for our club's financial support moving forward.

To allow members an opportunity to study the various proposals, the committee report is posted on our website. The document is found in the Committee Report Section. If you do not remember the login...please email me and I can send that out to you....again. (jlevine@docpc.com).

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

P Michelle has two large jugs of maple syrup left over from our pancake breakfast.

She is promoting members buy a lucky draw playing card with a jug of syrup as the prize. A sweet deal to be sure.

Due to the length of today's meeting, there was no fine session held.

Convention Mention!

We wish Past International Trustee Gary Levine well next week at our Eastern Canada and Caribbean Convention where he will seek the endorsement of the house of delegates to run at our International Convention for the position of Kiwanis Vice President. That is an elected four year position similar to the club level (Vice P, P Elect, President, Past P). PIT Gary will deliver a club opening workshop as well.

Our club delegates to Stratford are President Michelle Kobryn, Secretary Tim Sobie and Lieutenant Governor Elect Susan Davey.

Our ECC conventions are amazingly diverse in language, culture and background but all those attending have the same Kiwanis dedication to service. Conventions are a great Kiwanis learning experience!
