The Kiwanis Club of Barrie
President Helen Ellement has her hands full with her busy Kiwanis Club in Barrie. The club meets for dinner on the first Monday night of the month with the remaining Mondays providing interesting speakers at lunch time.
|The Kiwanis Club of Barrie donated over $15,000 to the food bank to purchase hundreds of chickens and turkeys to make a difference at Christmas time.|
Since 2015, the club has made the food bank a priority, by donating over $50 000 to help with their efforts.
The Kiwanis Club of Barrie raised the money to donate by selling Christmas trees seven days a week during the holiday season. It is a chilling volunteer project but the results certainly due warm the heart.
Drum roll please...for a fantastic fundraising event!
This is the Fourth Annual Anywhere in the World ticket draw. Once again the draw was made by Mayor Jeff Lehman on January 1st.
The First Prize of $7000 was awarded to Matthew Mcilravey (son of our own Chuck and Dorothy) who were both in attendance of the draw.
Second prize of dinner in Niagara Falls plus accommodation went to Mike from Barrie Kitchens.
The Third prize, a dinner in Barrie was awarded to Steve Sperling.
This fund raising event is becoming one of their most successful. They look forward to doing it again next year. Tickets become available usually in mid July so speak to any member of the club. They will gladly sell you the winning ticket!
